Massachusetts Amateur Qualifying - Red Tail Golf Club

*Due to logistics, pace of play concerns and club policy - the use of golf carts during the qualifying round and practice round will be MANDATORY. All competitors MUST opt to use/rent a golf cart - which must be done in the golf shop ahead of your qualifying/practice round.*

 

 

Practice Rounds: Players may arrange a practice round by contacting the golf shop and identifying themselves as a competitor in the field. Practice rounds will be offered based on club availability within the timeframes listed below. All players must ride during their practice round. 

 

Availability:

  • Monday - Wednesday during the two weeks prior to the qualifier (based on availability)
  • To guarantee the discounted rate, competitors must contact the golf shop directly.
  • Any practice round played outside of these dates is subject to the posted daily rate.

 

Notes:

  • There will be a mandatory cart fee of $59 (cash or credit).
  • Competitors will be limited to one practice round and may be paired up with other competitors.
  • Please limit your practice round to one ball on each hole and be aware of your pace of play with surrounding groups.

Competition Tees/ Yardage: The competition will be played from the SILVER tee yardage (Approx. 6,694 yards; par 72). 

 

Starting Times: Play will begin at 7:30am off the 1st & 10th tee. Pairings & Starting Times will be available after the close of entries and can be accessed by clicking the "Starting Times & Parings" tab above. There will be no registration on the day of the event, please report to your scheduled starting tee to receive local rules, hole locations, scorecard, etc. at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time.

 

Qualifying & Alternate Spots Available: 6 players and ties will advance to the Championship Proper at Essex County Club on July 10 - 14. Alternates will be assigned per the Mass Golf alternate policy. There will be no playoffs for qualifying or alternate spots. The number of qualifying spots is subject to change based on any withdrawals prior to the competition.

 

Automotive Transportation: The use of automotive transportation is REQUIRED during the qualifying round at the player's expense - $23.53 (cash or credit). Automotive transportation will NOT be permitted for the Championship proper. Please Note: Per the Mass Golf Policies & Procedures, no more than two carts will be permitted per starting time.

 

Caddies: Caddies are permitted. Caddies may ride in a golf cart if space permits, but no more than two carts will be permitted per starting time. 

 

Club Facilities: Open and available starting at 6:30am. Food & beverage will be available at the player's expense starting at 11:00am (cash or credit).

 

Practice Range: Open and available starting at 6:30am. 

 

Rules of Play: The 2023 Rules of Golf are in effect and are supplemented by the Mass Golf Hard Card. It is the individual's player's responsibility to know the Terms of the Competition.

Score Posting: All scores from individual stroke play events (qualifiers & championships) will be automatically posted to a player's Mass Golf/USGA Handicap Index by the Mass Golf Staff.
